EDINBURGH’S SEVEN HILLS

CRAIGLOCKHART, FLIGHT OVER BEAUTY, PART 1

Craiglockhart is one of Edinburgh‘s famous Seven Hills and offers magnificent city views.

A walk around this area includes a visit to Easter and West Peaks, as well as a boating pond originally designed for curling.

But unfortunately we didn’t manage to get there this time, but we will definitely do it another time once the windy weather subsides.

The attraction of this place is the ruined tower house, the remains of Craiglockhart Castle.

Historical information about this structure is ambiguous. Some Scottish historians claim that it was built by the Lockharts of Lee in the fifteenth century, others that it was the work of the Kincaids in the twelfth century. It was originally four stories high, but now only the first and second floors remain.
