My impressions
I decided to write about my impressions of Scotland. Imagine Scotland is a song, an earthly paradise. Solid greenery – forests, meadows, fields, pastures. Well-fed sheep, cows (completely shaggy, like mountain bulls), horses. And everywhere there are millions of rabbits in the fields. They are not shy, they graze just like livestock.
We went on an excursion to Loch Ness, where the legendary Loch Ness monster lives. It is shown a couple of times a year, but people don’t always see it. In 1996, it was seen by two groups of independent observers – a postman and children going to school. The lake is huge, long and deep. Its depths have not even been measured, it is known that there is a depth of 180 metres and even deeper bottomless crevices. It is believed that the monster is hiding in them. We expected that they would be taken to the lake, they would lie down in the bushes and look out for the monster. Stock up on binoculars and telescopes. The entire excursion is five hours, including travel. But we still saw a lot.

There are fur seals in the sea and in the bays. They have a rookery here. We saw them – so funny, their curious faces sticking out of the water, their beady eyes sparkling. They lie in the shallow water, warming themselves. In mountain rivers there is salmon and the owner sells a license to catch salmon for those who wish. We drove along the bridge and saw these huge fish jumping out of the water.
It was just time for the heather to bloom. Two types of heather grow here, differing from each other in the colour and shape of the inflorescence. Heather loves moisture, and it is here in abundance. And that’s why all the slopes that we passed were covered with a continuous purple carpet of blooming heather. Just imagine – as far as the eye can see, right up to the horizon – a purple haze, slopes, hills, mountains – all a continuous purple haze. Such beauty takes your breath away. Our people squealed with delight.
My heart remains in Scotland. And not only because of the beauty of nature. They have a lot of other advantages here: free education, high standard of living, secure old age – a pension of about USD 1000 per month. The people laughed – we will come to live out our lives in Scotland.
So, if you get the chance, go to Scotland. Get an unforgettable experience and believe me, you will also fall in love with this beautiful country.
